It's much cheaper if you walk on. Visitors will not be able to explore much of the island without a car, but Bainbridge residents can leave their vehicles parked at the dock or even take a bus there and walk on the ferry to go to Seattle. At the other end, it's a short walk to Seattle's free buses downtown. One of the great attractions of Bainbridge is the ease with which you can drop in and out of this wonderful city.
