Historical NoteReturn to Top
Interest in debate began fairly early in the history of Washington State University. The first intercollegiate debates were held in 1899; Whitman College and the University of Washington were the opposing teams. In the following years other contestants usually included the University of Idaho and Oregon State.

The collection consists primarily of Washington State University Debate Team photos, arranged chronologically by school year, from 1928-1957. Score sheets denoting team wins and losses are also enclosed. There is one folder containing two newspaper clippings.
