Content DescriptionReturn to Top

Roy E Will and Jane (Jennie) E Atherton Will were students at Washington State ca. 1908-1913. Portraits of Washington State College ca. 1908-1912, accumulated by then-students Roy Will and Jane Atherton Will. Notable is a series of photographs depicting a ROTC training camp at Clarkston, WA, held in 1912. While a few images predate or postdate 1908-1912, the bulk of the materials are within that period. Roy Will's parents owned farmland near Harrington, WA, and the majority of the post-1913 farming photos are from that location.

Arrangement

The scrapbook, associated materials, and acquisition materials are placed at the back of the collection. The remaining materials are organized loosely by place, with an informal alphabetical series of Washington State College files at the beginning, then Pullman materials, then materials further afield.

Acquisition Information

The Will photographs were gifted to Washington State University's Archives from Donna Setterberg of Portland, OR, granddaughter of Roy E Will and Jane (Jennie) E Atherton Will. They were received at the Archives on May 7, 2009 as UPC 2009-01. Two additional images were received from Donna Setterberg on Nov. 9, 2012, and added to the collection. 187 images, mostly postcards, were received in early 2019.

Processing Note

This collection was processed by University Archivist Mark O'English in May of 2009.

Related Materials

One notebook of fabrics and writings was removed from the collection for separate processing as Cage 4946. This notebook belonged to Jane Atherton Will, and is believed to have been from a WSC Home Economics course.
